DIMAPUR: Chakhesang Cultural Research Institute (CCRI) on August 2, 2026 launched a campaign to procure a permanent plot of land for the institute at the residence of advisor for Civil Administration Works Department (CAWD), Kudecho Khamo, in Kohima.
The programme was led by CCRI managing director Mesusayi Tetseo, while Finance Committee convenor Vahine Thisa presented a brief report on the land procurement project. A dedicatory prayer for the raffle draw ticket sale was offered by Rev. Neikko Mero, senior pastor of KCBCK, before Kudecho Khamo formally launched the raffle draw.
Addressing the gathering, organisers appealed to members of the Chakhesang community to extend support by purchasing raffle tickets to help realise the institute’s long standing goal of acquiring a permanent site.
Established in 1993 with headquarters at Chetheba, CCRI has been working to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage, customs and traditional values of the Chakhesang people. In collaboration with its parent body, the Chakhesang Cultural Organisation (CCO), the raffle draw has been initiated as a community driven fundraising effort.
The institute appealed to all Chakhesang brothers and sisters to contribute according to their means, stating that every ticket purchased would support the preservation and promotion of the community’s cultural identity.
Organisers further said the initiative symbolises unity, collective responsibility and progress, while encouraging younger generations to cherish and carry forward the legacy of their forefathers in a changing world.
