To ensure free and fair elections, the chief electoral officer (CEO) of Nagaland, on Saturday said that CCTV surveillance will be installed in polling stations across the state with either webcasting or offline videography.
Webcasting operators will be under the overall supervision of the presiding officer and the 1st polling official.
On the day of polls, the proceedings in the polling booth will be monitored by the respective RO/ DEO and the CEO.
The CEO stated that webcasting systems will be installed a day prior to the polling day.
Further, the CEO stated that webcasting will clearly capture and transmit the aspects of the poll proceedings.
ECI on use of EVM and VVPAT: Election Commission of India (ECI) has specified that all the votes for the forthcoming general elections to the NLA, 2018 will be cast and recorded by means of EVMs and the VVPAT printers in the manner prescribed, under the Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961, and the supplementary instructions issued from time to time.
According to the media cell, CEO Nagaland, ECI has expressed satisfaction that a sufficient number of EVM and VVPAT printers were available for the polls in the Assembly Constituencies of Nagaland.
