DIMAPUR, OCT 3 (NPN): Centre Chakhesang Youth Organisation (CCYO) has directed its units and the general public to comply with a series of measures as its seven-day ultimatum served on the state government is set to expire on October 4, 2026.
The ultimatum demanded the immediate withdrawal of the case against Vezhoto Hesuh for an alleged wildlife offence, return of a seized Great Barbet and an independent inquiry into an alleged demand for Rs 1 lakh for his release.
In a directive, CCYO president Dode Nakro informed all village youth organisations under the Centre Chakhesang area to remain prepared and mobilise their youth for “any eventuality”. CCYO said all manpower and resources should be activated and kept on standby with immediate effect.
According to CCYO, some of its demands had been fulfilled while efforts were underway to resolve the remaining issues and bring the matter to a “logical conclusion”.
It also directed that no outsiders, including personnel of government agencies, be allowed to enter villages under its jurisdiction — Lower Khomi, Middle Khomi, Upper Khomi, Pholami, Gidemi, Sakraba and Porba — until further notice.
The directive warned that anyone entering the villages without authorisation would do so at their own risk.
CCYO clarified that there was no restriction on vehicular movement along the Pfutsero-Phek road or on traditional footpaths (Rüvücho). However, it prohibited commuters from taking photographs or recording videos within CCYO jurisdiction.
The youth body further prohibited all forms of photography and videography by residents within the Centre Chakhesang area. CCYO said no activity inside the traditional villages was to be photographed or recorded without its prior authorisation until further notice.
The organisation has also directed all its office-bearers and village youth organisation officials stationed outside the Centre Chakhesang area to return to their respective villages within 48 hours.
