Civil Engineers’ Association of Nagaland (CEAN) held its 33rd annual general-cum-felicitation programme on August 12 at Capital Convention Centre, Kohima.
Addressing the programme as guest speaker, advocate & social activist, Kezhokhoto Savi urged the engineers to be agents and promote quality work in infrastructural development and avoid violation of ethics of technicality in the line of work.
Highlighting on the poor quality of work, Savi stressed that in the process of implementation of a project including infrastructural ones, several deductions occur in the monetary line along with party fund and ministers/advisors’ deductions which only led to compromisation of quality at the end.
While emphasizing that with so much deductions, quality work gets reduced, he urged them to be agents of change and appealed the qualified engineers to focus on the quality work instead of concentrating on other back hand works.
Exhorting the young minds, convenor CTAN, Meshenlo Kath appraised the newly inducted officers and urged them to be a blessing towards their work and society, and help contribute in their full capacity and potential.
Kath also urged them to guide the people, spread their knowledge at the same time voice out when needed and change the system and bring more transparency and equality.
58 members were felicitated in the programme including – 14 SDOs; 27 JEs; 7 lecturers in civil engineering; 2 SOs- II; 7 surveyors -III and 1 draughtsmen –II. SDO, PWD Er. Imtisunep also exhorted the gathering.
The program was chaired by Er. Catherine B. Odyuo, invocation by Youth Pastor, City Church, Zajamo Odyuo, welcome address by president, Er. Choice Pielie, CEAN report by general secretary, Er. Dovili Swu.
Felicitation was led by vice president, Er. Vungao Murry, finance report by core member CEAN, Er. Neichutuonuo Yhome and gratitude by finance secretary, Er. Vekrolu and benediction by core member, Er. Siphongchila Chang.
