CEDOK, WTCYA felicitate school toppers

Commission for Education, Diocese of Kohima (CEDOK), acknowledged and felicitated rank holders and subject toppers of all major subjects of the HSLC and HSSLC examination from Catholic Schools, on May 26, at Holy Cross Auditorium, Dimapur, under the theme “Let the flame of success you lit continue to glow in your life”.
The programme was graced by Most Rev. Dr. Gerald John Mathias, Bishop of Lucknow and chairman for laity commission CCBI, Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, chairman, commission for education, diocese of Kohima and Charles Nosazol, additional development commissioner, Nagaland were the special guests.
Most Rev. Dr. Gerald John Mathias in his speech appreciated the students for their success. He congratulated the commission for organising the award ceremony for excellence in the academic field.
He also acknowledged the teachers who were mentors of the successful students.
Earlier, CEDOK chairman Bishop James Thoppil, gave a briefing on the contribution of Catholic schools in Nagaland.
He said that teachers were to be acknowledged and recognized. He further exhorted the toppers to develop the attitude of giving for the service received from the schools. 
While delivering his presidential address, Bishop James expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude to all the students for bringing good results to the catholic schools. 
Speaking on the occasion, Additional Development Commissioner Charles Nosalzol, expressed joy over the success brought by the students to themselves, school, teachers and the parents.
He also presented awards to the subject toppers.
Benrithung L Jungio, 1st rank holder of HSSLC from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School (DBHSS), Wokha, spoke on behalf of the recipients of the award. In his speech he acknowledged the unfailing graces and blessing of God who is the source of all success. He thanked the CEDOK for the initiative of acknowledging the successful students from the Catholic School.
CEDOK also awarded selected teachers from Catholic Schools on the occasion for their committed and meritorious service in the field of education. 
The awardees, both students and teachers were given cash awards and certificates of merit.
Meanwhile, Wokha Town Catholic Youth Association (WTCYA) also held a felicitation programme for successful candidates of HSLC & HSSLC, 2018 on the same day, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Wokha with Rev. Fr. A.D Jose Akkarapatty, Parish Priest Wokha as the main speaker and Myingthunglo Humtsoe as the guest speaker.
At the programme, the speaker in his address urged the students to pray for wisdom and step forward desiring a great future. The guest speaker laid emphasis on the significance of education which was the key to success and urged the students to identify their hidden talents and make success a reality through hard work.
WTCYA president in his welcome address congratulated all the successful candidates for their meritious achievement.
The programme was chaired by Precilla Humtsoe. Certificates of merit were awarded to all the successful candidates by Chopathung Kikon Asst. Catechist.
Earlier, invocation prayer was pronounced by Catechist St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Wokha Limathung Patton, special prayer for the students was said by Rev. Fr. A.D Jose Akkarapatty and benediction prayer was pronounced by Nnilo Kithan.
