Central team visits flood affected areas

Led by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) joint secretary Ramesh Kumar Ganta, an Inter Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) arrived here on Wednesday for assessing the damage caused by the recent floods in the State that had affected several families and damaged properties and collect reports in this regard.

According to DIPR, the team visited Thahekhu block 7 and Naharbari colony In Dimapur and interacted with village council members and some of the affected families to get first hand information. The team appreciated the efforts put in by the village council and NGOs during the time of disaster.
Dimapur deputy commissioner (DC) Anoop Kinchi, along with administrative officials, Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) officer on special duty (OSD) Johnny Rongmei, Dimapur District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) officials and officials from line departments, also accompanied the IMCT during the disaster site visits in Dimapur.
The team will be leaving for Mokokchung by road on Thursday and halt for the night there, before proceeding to Wokha on Friday and reach Kohima the same day. On Saturday, the team will have a debriefing with chief minister Neiphiu Rio and the line departments.
IMCT members include Deena Bath, consultant (FCD) from department of expenditure under Union finance ministry, Narendra Kumar, department of agriculture, cooperation & farmers’ welfare and directorate of jute development director, SS Modi, deputy secretary in the Union rural development ministry and Abishek Agarwal, assistant executive engineer in the road transport & highways ministry, Guwahati regional office.
