Centre announces `84.65 cr for inter-state road project

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has reportedly announced a new road project from Tizit under Mon district in Nagaland to Pumao (Khonsa) in Arunachal Pradesh via Zangkham approximately 50 km long at the cost of Rs. 84.65 crore.
Nagaland minister for transport P. Paiwang Konyak, who is currently in Delhi, told Nagaland Post that the union minister made assurance for sanctioning the amount by end of financial year (March) or by first week of April.
Paiwang, who held meeting with Gadkari at transport Bhavan New Delhi on Friday, also submitted the concept note of the department on the project under Inter State Connectivity (IST) scheme. The union minister had earlier in October 2015 acknowledged the project and forwarded the letter for road construction to the chief engineer (P-8) in the ministry for appropriate action.
In response, Paiwang submitted the concept note to the union minister, following which the minister on March 11, 2016 announced the approval for the road construction.
