Government of India and NSCN (K) Niki on Wednesday mutually decided to extend the ceasefire agreement with effect from September 8, 2023 for a period of one year, i.e. till September 7, 2024 to bring about a lasting peace in the State of Nagaland with the involvement of Naga people.
The ceasefire agreement was jointly signed in Delhi by additional secretary (MHA) Piyush Goyal and representatives of NSCN (K) Niki– CFSB supervisor Abel Zingrü Thuer and CFSB secretary Uketo Z Chophy.
According to the Home ministry, the ceasefire will be subject to adherence to the ceasefire ground rules, mutually agreed to and signed by the two sides. The ceasefire ground rules will be subject to mutual review and amendment with the involvement of both the parties, it said.
