CEO appeals electors to vote without fear

Chief electoral officer (CEO) V Shashank Shekhar has appealed to all electors to cast their vote without fear or undue influence in the Assembly election on Monday.
In a statement, he pointed out to the voters that it was their legitimate right to cast their vote with the spirit of one man one vote.
He however insisted that there should not be any malpractice, disturbance, violence, etc, during the polling hour so as to conduct the election in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
For any assistance, he urged the people to contact booth level officer (BLO) for polling station location, voter slip, document required for identification. He also stressed that there should be no proxy voting in any polling station, except those persons who have been authorised to vote as proxy for an elector under electoral law in so far as he votes as a proxy for such electors.
He said ethical voting must be maintained throughout the polling process. In this regard, he request all presiding and polling officers to discharge their duties and responsibilities as per rules and maintain law and order inside the polling stations as well as in the catchment areas of their polling stations. Conveying his greetings to all the voters in this festival of democracy, Shekhar also appealed to all the electors to exercise their voting right and uphold the democratic principle of the nation.
“It is a proud moment for every citizen of Nagaland to exercise his/her vote in the General Election to Nagaland Legislative Assembly 2023. I wish all the best to all the DEOs, ROs, AROs, polling officials, law enforcement agencies and other related election officials, voters, etc. Let this election be conducted in the true spirit of democracy,” he exhorted.
