Office of the chief electoral officer (CEO), Nagaland has informed that the National Electoral Roll Purification (NERP) programme 2016, launched by the Election Commission of India on March 1, 2016 would conclude on August 31, 2016.
In an official notice, CEO Nagaland, Sanjay Kumar, stated that NERP exercise include correction of errors including repeat images, which would also be corrected, missing photographs would be collected; poor quality of images would be replaced by good quality photographs.
CEO said another thrust was identification and enrolment of persons with disabilities (PwDs).
To facilitate the NERP programme, CEO said special campaigns in respective polling station locations have been scheduled on July 9 (2nd Saturday) and July 23 (4th Saturday) 2016, where all eligible citizens have been requested to visit the concerned polling stations on any of the campaign dates for necessary action.
CEO informed that CEI has also solicited voluntary disclosure of multiple entries in the E/Rolls, if any, for deletions. All such disclosures leading to deletions shall be given ‘appreciation certificates’ by the Election Commission, CEO said.

Election department has appealed to all the SVEEP partnering government departments, political parties, NGOs, church organizations, PSUs, organizations of security forces, all AHoDs, HoDs, district election officers, EROs, AEROs, supervisors, BLOs, campus ambassadors, VRECs to not only bring the message to the notice of their employees working under them/members within their reach/their contact members down to the grassroots level, but also motivate them for necessary action so the goals of the NERP exercises were achieved.
AHoDs and HoDs have been requested to issue necessary orders directing all employees under them including subordinate offices in the districts to strictly comply the statutory requirement of registering names as per sections of the RPA.
Other than the election machineries, all partnering government departments, AHoDs, HoDs, heads of educational institutes, NGOs and PSUs have been requested to submit action taken reports including suggestions, if any, in connection with NERP and SVEEP activities to CEO office at earliest for submitting a consolidated report to the ECI.
