The week-long Community First Responder (CFR) training programme, organized by Can Youth in partnership with Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), culminated with a mock drill exercise on Friday at CT Square, Chümoukedima. The training was held in collaboration with Chümoukedima Town Council and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), aimed at equipping youth and community members with basic disaster response skills. Special guest, UDA from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Chümoukedima, Y. Glory Ezung, lauded Can Youth for the initiative and stressed the importance of community-level preparedness in disaster management. Founder of Can Youth, Jenpu Rhakho Rongmei, said the demonstration was meant not only for trainees but for observers to reflect on real-life applications. He encouraged community members to take such sessions seriously. The mock drill was led by programme manager, Can Youth, Nuye Nyekha, and featured simulated emergency scenarios.
Chairing the event, secretary and director of Can Youth, Zhove Lohe, spoke on the organization’s mission in promoting youth leadership, preparedness, and community development. He called for support towards life-saving initiatives like CFR.
The programme concluded with words of appreciation for the active participation and enthusiasm shown by the trainees.
