CFTDM launches informal education project

To equip lesser privileged children with basic education, Christ for the Downtrodden Ministry (CFTDM) on Saturday launched a new project called ‘Hope for the Destitute” to impart informal education to destitute children at Excel Children School, Ura Villa Colony.
The project will focus on imparting informal education to destitute children in the Colony besides giving them vocational training at a later stage.
Speaking at the launching programme, founder and chief functionary of CFTDM, Ato Angami, said the activities to be included in the informal education programme are learning through visual means such as slide show, study hour, music learning and recreational activities.
The target group of the programme is destitute children who are marginalized and do not have access to education. “The future of any society depends on the children of today. If we are able to nurture and provide them basic education, then the future will be in good hands,” he said.
Expressing gratitude to Ura Villa Colony authority, the land owner and Excel Children School authority for allotting the school to be used as the centre for the “Hope for the Destitute” project, Ato also appealed to the Ura Villa Colony council, elders and residents to extend their cooperation to make the programme a success.
Chairman, Ura Villa Colony, Imkongmeren Ao, lauded the ministry for bringing the project to the colony and expressed optimism that the humanitarian project would immensely benefit destitute children.
Excel Children School faculty and students led by the school principal, Ramanand Sah, participated in the launching programme.
CFTDM team member, Atoshe Awomi, chaired the programme.
Christ for the Downtrodden Ministry was founded in 2009 by a group of educated, enthusiastic and concerned people from different walks of life who felt the urgent need to work collectively for the underprivileged people. The ministry is registered with the state government.
“Our Ministry visualizes a society based on values, to respect and uphold the dignity of the downtrodden people and improve the quality of life, irrespective of tribe, religion and cultural differences”, stated CFTDM vision statement.
