Chakhesang churches celebrate combined Christmas

Chakhesang churches in Kohima under the aegis of Kohima Chakhesang Pastor Fellowship (KCPF) celebrated combined Christmas under the theme, “The word became flesh” (John 1: 14). A press release by celebration Publicity Committee, informed that around 13,000 members from the Chakhesang churches in Kohima irrespective of denomination affiliations attended the celebration worship service held at Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) convention centre and mass celebratory feast at Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) Solidarity park.


Speaking on the theme, NBCC general secretary, Rev. Dr. Zelhuo Keyho, emphasised on the importance of “Grace” in the biblical terms and termed it as the cross of Jesus Christ. Keyho also opined that Christmas was a time for reconciliation, forgiveness, making family decision to live in Christ manner etc. The feast Committee Convenor Jolayi Nienu, in his message acknowledged the co-operation and moral supports of the people in making the celebration accomplished and further sought co-operation in the coming years.


The worship was led by Chkhungo Puro, pastor, CBCK while Rev. Vikuo Rhi invoked God’s blessing and all churches youth choir presented special praise. Rev. Dr. Vevo Phesao delivered greetings, pastor Cesita Testeo prayed for the offerings, Kahizo Vadeo and Dr. Neizo-ü Khalo read the word of God, Rev. Zhowhuyi Nyekha pronounced closing prayer and Rev. K. Luruo prayed for the cake and mass celebratory feast. The committee also thanked minister of Power and Parliamentary affairs, KG. Kenye, and advisor, Kudecho Khamo, Dr. Neisatuo Mero MLA and Commissioner & Secretary, Visielie Kezo for their contributions towards the celebrations.

Combined Christmas at Thenyizumi village
Thenyizumi village in Phek district celebrated combined Christmas where the three churches – St. Andrew Church, Thenyizumi; Thenyizumi Christian Revival Church (TCRC) and Thenyizumi Baptist Church (TBC) came together on December 25. The combined Christmas event was hosted by K Khwüyi Thisa and Nerhisalü Thisa.


Coordinator of GlobeServe International in Minneapolis, USA, Rev Dr. Sülüveyi Rhakho was the speaker. He delivered a message on the “Prince of Peace” emphasizing that Jesus Christ was born with the purpose to bring peace to the world and make mankind acceptable in the sight of God.


Rev Dr. Rhakho called upon believers to reunite with Jesus Christ. He exhorted Christians to trust in God for true peace and happiness. Rev Dr. Rhakho also exhorted believers to not be self-centered but to prioritize God and always remember the love of Jesus Christ in any circumstance.


Earlier, host K Khwüyi Thisa expressed happiness on the unity of the three churches coming together to celebrate Christmas. Greetings were delivered by Besuhu Dawhuo, chairman of Thenyizumi Union Kohima , while Thenyizumi Christian Fellowship Kohima and the Combined Youth Choir presented choral pieces.


H Praneyi Dawhuo, head deacon of TBC, read a scripture during the service. The program was led by Thepuzhoyi Theyo, pastor of Thenyizumi Baptist Church, with intercessory prayer led by Thedüseyi Victor Poruh, Catechist of St. Andrew Church. Rev Veshoseyi Rhakho, Pastor of TCRC, gave the benediction. Zasehü Theyo, deacon of TBC and the oldest male citizen in Thenyizumi village, offered a prayer for the Christmas feast.
