Chang apex bodies keep Nov 1 bandh in abeyance

Chang Khulei Setshang (CKS) and its frontal bodies have decided to the keep in abeyance the proposed total bandh within Chang jurisdiction from November 1 onwards.

The decision was made on the request of the deputy commissioner Tuensang at the meeting held on October 30 at DC’s residence with Chang tribal leaders, representing Chang Khulei Setshang, Chingmei Range Public Organisation, Confederation of Chang Students’ Union, Chingmei Range Students’ Council and Changsao Thangjam Setshang. 

After deliberating on the demands, the organizations gave a 10-day deadline (w.e.f. November 1) to revoke the March 26, 2021 order; to expedite the October 2, 2020 Tuensang DPDP meeting decision to transfer all DDOs and office files concerning six villages of Chingmei range from Noklak district to Tuensang district.

The tribal bodies also acknowledged the government’s order dated October 30, 2021 for final settlement of Noklak district boundary vis-à-vis Chingmei.
