Sao Chang College Students’ Union (SCCSU) organised the 53rd Freshers’ Meet at the College Multipurpose Hall on August 25 under the theme “Beyond the Threshold.”
The event welcomed newly admitted students into the college community and provided a platform for them to interact with fellow students and faculty members.
The formal session was chaired by Naong Monyu and commenced with an opening prayer by EU President Shelula. This was followed by a welcome address by General Secretary of SCCSU Sangmailenla. Betikhumla presented a vocal performance, while Rangcholi delivered a speech on behalf of the freshers.
Addressing the gathering, Principal of Sao Chang College, Dr Lanurenla highlighted the institution’s distinguished alumni, various awards and academic programmes offered by the college. She also shared her perspectives and experiences as both a principal and a parent.
A special prayer for the freshers was offered by Lemba APY Saksi Baptist Lashong, followed by a special number presented by the hostellers. The formal session concluded with a vote of thanks by Social Service Secretary, Ramkiuba and a closing prayer by Assistant Professor Dr Limamanen Phom.
The informal session featured a variety of student performances and the Mr and Ms Freshers competition. The competition was judged by HoD, Department of Sociology; Dr Y. Toninaro Chongpho, HoD, Department of Economics Naongchemden Chang and Longme Kumzuk, Mr Chang 2025.
In the individual titles, Moalemla from the Department of Education was adjudged Ms Congeniality, while B. Sangle Chiba from English won Mr Personality. Aliya from Sociology and Sangtsali Sangtam from History were named Ms and Mr Ramp Walk, respectively.
The coveted Ms Fresher and Mr Fresher titles were won by Phumshung W. Phom from Political Science and Hiamphai from Sociology, respectively.
