Change oneself to bring change: Azo

Leader NPF Legislature Party, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, MLA on Thursday said that Nagas need to become wiser to change oneself, only then, things will change for the better. He was speaking as the guest speaker at the Phekmi Collegiate Forum’s (PCF) 33rd general session on Thursday which was held under the theme, “Embracing the future” at Phek village.

Azo said that Nagas have become too clever and “that’s why they want to change Nagaland but not themselves.” He also challenged the people to become an asset to the state and contribute to the state and not a liability.
“All of us want the state government to do everything for us, which is wrong”, he said. The MLA pointed out that it was high time for Nagas to learn the art of fishing and not depend on the fishermen.

He stated that Nagas have become dependent on the Government of India from the day of the statehood, and stressed on the need to “become self-sufficient and self-dependent first, if they want sovereignty.
In his message, Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) president Veziihii Keyho stated that when they envision the future, they all want to have a future where there is a tranquil society embodied by prevalence of love and understanding, fraternity and brotherhood, equality and justice, corruption free system, good education, sustainability and economic prosperity, spiritual growth, etc. In this, he said the PCF as the highest intellectual body of the people, should give serious thought encompassing the above virtues.

“Above all else, it should never forget its foremost priority, which is the intellectual growth and progress of our people especially the young generation,” he said. Keyho said that the planning and vision of the PCF should be broad based keeping in mind the welfare of the young people especially in the field of higher education and career opportunities.

The session was chaired by PCF vice president Kho-o H. Keyho while PCF president Vekupa Venuh delivered welcome address. PCF general secretary Veshe Chizo highlighted PCF activities for the current tenure. Vote of thanks was proposed by PCF programme co-ordinator Khoshepa Vero.
