Changs celebrate Poanglüm festival

Signifying the bounty harvest and the beginning of new harvest year, Changs celebrated Poanglüm festival which was organized by Chang Union Kohima (CUK) at NSF Solidarity Park, Saturday.
Speaking at the festival as special guest, Angami Public Organization (APO) vice president, K T Vilie Theüno said festival was a time for reconciliation. For a developing state like Nagaland, Theüno said progress and development could be achieved if unity was maintained among the tribes and civil societies.
 Extending Poanglüm festival greetings, Theüno highlighted the need for APO and Chang public organization to come closer and be more understanding. He also encouraged CUK to be united and work for their community. Delivering short speech, Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Union Kohima (ENPUK) general secretary, V Chingmei Phom lauded the peaceful coexistence among the diverse people in Kohima.
He urged Chang community to carry the good example of Kohima and inculcate in Tuensang district as a “people mission”.
The gathering was enthralled through folk melody by WB Mongko and friends, traditional showcase, entertainment by United Club Chingmei village and cultural dances by Khiamniuangan Cultural Club Kohima and Chingmei Village Cultural Troupe.
Earlier, invocation prayer was pronounced by CBLK Pastor S Anungla, welcome address by convenor planning committee, vote of thanks was delivered by CUK president while the programme was chaired by Mary and Onen.
