Chauhan to be next CFMG chairman

Former DG Assam Rifles, Lt. Gen Shokin Chauhan will take over as the next chairman of the Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG). The incumbent CFMG chairman D.K. Pathak completed his tenure on August 9.

According to reliable sources, Chauhan will be taking over from Pathak after formal orders are issued by the Union Home ministry.  When contacted, army sources also informed that Chauhan’s appoint was confirmed, but the official order was yet to be issued. A 1979 batch IPS officer, D.K. Pathak was appointed as the CFMG chairman in 2016. The Naga political groups are waiting to hold their first meeting with Gen. Chouhan, which is expected to take place as soon as he takes charge.
