Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, MLA, on Thursday graced the golden jubilee celebration of Chepoketa Students’ Union (CSU) under Tizu area of Phek district.
Gracing the inaugural function, Azo stated the Chepoketa Students’ Union has achieved a historic milestone with the completion of 50 years of its existence.
“Jubilee is a time of celebration- a time of forgiving, reconciling and blessings. Behind every celebration there is a success story, nevertheless one should also not bask in past glories” Azo said.
He congratulated pioneers of the union and all those who led the union in different capacities in the past 50 years. “Yes we have a reason to celebrate because the union has produced prominent politicians in the likes of Vejoi Vero, ex- minister, doctors, engineers and many other officers” he added.
Stating that students were assets of the village he called upon them to reach greater heights in the near future.
He warned the younger generation about the evils of social media, the dangers of social networking abuse and its repercussions on the day to day activities of a student.
Azo advised students to “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you” while maintaining that in the same manner nearly 150 years ago Christianity came to the Nagas first, followed by education.
He also advised the students to be truthful maintaining strict discipline so as to turn their lives into success stories.
Held under the theme “Excelsior: Ever Upward,” FGN Kedallo Zhopra Vero, Chakhesang Students’ Union president, Lavoto Chizo, District Program Officer (Dimapur), S. Nezolu Rhakho, Chepoketa village council chairman, Thiipurayi Vero and Zhodiiyi Vero also shared greetings and CSU president Miileto Veswii delivered a presidential address.
Rev. Dr. Vezopa Tetseo, executive secretary Chakhesang Baptist Church Council and Rev. Pukrolhii Lohe, pastor Yoriiba Baptist Church were the guest speakers.
The golden jubilee souvenir dedication was led by Rev. Dr. Vezopa Tetseo.
