Chessore town bodies serve 7-day ultimatum on DoSE

DIMAPUR, MAY 23 (NPN): Chessore Town Public Forum, Chessore Town Students’ Union and Chessore Village Students’ Union have served a seven-day ultimatum on Department of School Education (DoSE) over staff shortages and administrative negligence at Government High School (GHS) Chessore. In a representation to principal director DoSE through DEO Shamator, CTSU chairman Y Borükhum, CTPF secretary K. Pongjikhiung and CVSU president H Yimto stated that present state of GHS Chessore was not a procedural delay, but a sustained denial of constitutional right demanded immediate posting of a Mathematics teacher, a graduate teacher, headmaster, and a UDA.
They pointed out that GHS Chessore had been without a Mathematics teacher since 2015 and without a Headmaster since 2021.
Despite repeated appeals, they said no teacher has joined. The three organisations said that the school also lost staff due to recent transfers without replacements.
The organisations further stated that the prolonged vacancies have caused severe academic loss to students, particularly in Mathematics, and led to institutional paralysis.
They described the situation as a violation of the Right to Education Act and a denial of students’ constitutional rights.
The three bodies warned that if their demands were not met within seven days, they would shut down GHS Chessore and launch peaceful protests. The organisations cautioned that the department would be held fully responsible for any academic loss to students.
