Nagaland Chief Secretary Dr. J Alam reviewed the progress of the Nagaland Solar Mission in a meeting held at the Civil Secretariat on May 28, 2025.
According to a DIPR report, the meeting focused on the mission’s alignment with the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG: MBY) to promote rooftop solar installations.
The meeting was attended by officials including secretary, Power, Asangla Imti, Additional CE (D&R), Nagaland Solar Mission Team Leader Er. Lobosang, and other Power Department officials.
Dr. Alam emphasized the need for public awareness campaigns to ensure more people benefit from the scheme. He directed officials to make the registration portal user-friendly, visually appealing, and easy to navigate so that residents can understand and register smoothly. He expressed confidence that state government support will enable successful implementation.
Team Leader Er. Lobosang provided updates on the mission, stating that smart meters will be given free of cost to customers installing rooftop solar systems. He also informed that smart prepaid meters, configured for Net-Metering, will be provided under the RDSS scheme, with only standard meter rent charged monthly, as per tariff guidelines.
The Nagaland Solar Mission, under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, aims to promote rooftop solar panel installations in households across the state. Consumers can register online and access detailed information through the portal www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in.
