Child rights protection guild of Dimapur formed

Child rights protection guild of Dimapur- a new committee was formed Wednesday with an objective to collectively voice out and strive for effective implementation of rights of children.
At a two hour deliberation on the child rights issues by a group of stake holders representing various NGOs, and government bodies, Legal Aid Clinic, Churches, Lions Club, Hoho and Unions held at conference hall, Prodigals Home, Dimapur threw light on the lack of networking and absence of collective voice for pressurising the authorities in-charge for implementing rights of the children. The house deliberated on to explore resources and facilities available for children and to write joint representation to the government for effective implementation to various acts, policies related to children. The committee also aims to create legal awareness camps on the children’s rights in consultation with Legal Aid Clinic, City Law College and Legal Authority of Nagaland to name a few patrons directly and indirectly related to implementation of child rights.
The committee will be headed by K. Ela, director, Prodigal’s Home as convenor, with representatives of education department, labour department, social welfare department, Legal Aid Clinic, Baptist Women Fellowship, Don Bosco Provincial Home, Assisi Convent, Miqlat Ministry and CEC (NGOs) including media person as core committee members.
As director of Prodigal’s Home puts, “with the parliamentary secretary, social welfare and women development and deputy commissioner of Dimapur endorsement as patrons for the child rights initiative”, the stakeholders can play active role to create a child friendly society.
