Child scientists to represent state in ntl competitions

Eight child scientists have been selected by Nagaland Institute of Health Environment and Social Welfare (NIHESW) to represent the state at 23rd National Children’s Science Congress 2015 to be held at Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab from December 27-31.
The selected child scientists are: Shoniu Shiu from Minister’s Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School Kohima, Nengliankim Mikhal Kamson and Keneisenuo Caryn Kire from Little Flower Higher Secondary School Kohima,  Bendangtoshi Longkumer from Bethel Higher Secondary School Kohima, Temjenmenla from Holy Family School Kohima, Nilotoli  from Cornerstone School Zunheboto, Tungam Rokam from Minister’s Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School Kohima and Nguluonuo Rutsa of Christ King Higher Secondary School, Kohima.
Meanwhile, Chumbeno from Minister’s Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School Kohima with the project titled “Study of Earthworms, Wasp, ants and other insects under changing environment due to weather and climate” and Mayanglila Longkumer of Little Flower Higher Secondary School Kohima with the project titled “Plantation of Rose Plants in Poly-House” have been selected to present their projects at Indian Science Congress at Mysore University to be held from January 3 to 7, 2016. On Friday, students competed at the 23rd state level National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) 2015 held under the theme “understanding weather and climate” at Zonal council hall, Friday.
The programme was organised by Nagaland Institute of Health Environment and Social Welfare (NIHESW) under the programme of NCSTC-DST, New Delhi.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural programme, ex officio director and secretary department of science and technology, Nikhashe Sema encouraged the participants to exhibit smartness, accuracy and competitive spirit.
He appreciated the teachers for bringing the children to participate in the competition. The chief guest also declared the science congress open.
Welcome address was delivered by Director NIHESW, Dr. Vizovol Mekro and vote of thanks by programme officer NIHESW, Dr. Temjenmongla while the   programme was chaired by state coordinator NCSC, Santu Thapa.
The judges for the competition were assoc. professor, department of Geology Kohima Science College (KSC) and state academic co-ordinator NCSC, Dr. Vizovol Mekro, assistant professor department of statistics KSC, Dr. Prasanta Barman and assistant professor department of Geography KSC, Thejanguno Peseyie.
