Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority (MDLSA) in collaboration with Nagaland Alliance for Children & Women’s Right (NACWR) with Care & Support Society (C&SS) organised a seminar on Child and Women Rights at Ongpangkong Salang on September 28.
A press release from the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority, public relations assistant stated that when speaking on the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, Sentinaro Longchar, project assistant MDLSA said that domestic violence could be harm or injury that endangers the health, safety, life, limb or well being, whether mental or physical, of the aggrieved person. This includes physical, sexual, verbal, emotional and economic abuses.
She also explained the powers and duties of protection officers, service providers, etc when an aggrieved person is a victim of such crime.
I Imkong, retainer lawyer MDLSA spoke on Protection of Children from Sexual Violence Act, 2012 and adoption and surrogacy, while Mapujungla, panel lawyer MDLSA spoke on child labour. A welcome address was delivered by Sapo, asssitant director C&SS and vote of thanks by Imchawati Kichu, MD, C&SS and district coordinator, NACWR.
More than 100 representatives from Watsu Mungdang, shool students and church representatives attended the program.
