CHILDLINE Dimapur organises online activities

With an aim to provide a platform for children and parents to invest their time productively, CHILDLINE Dimapur conducted a series of online contest /activities for children based on the theme “plastic waste to life”.

The contest was categorised into different age groups and was conducted on various days between May 16 and June 5. 
The event was coordinated by interns, Shalu Kumari and Shania Singhania Agarwal, students of Christ Deemed to be University, Bengaluru. 
On the first day, a session on ways and techniques of reducing, reusing and recycling single use plastics by creatively turning used plastic bottles and containers into planters, pen-stands and boxes was held.
They were also taught how to decorate their models using acrylic paints, old clothes, wool and thread. 
On the following days, children participated in free hands painting and the participants were asked to plant tree saplings.
An essay writing competition was held for the age group of 11-16 years on the theme ‘‘plastic waste management”. Prizes were awarded to the winners of each contest along with e-certificates to all the participants.
Altogether, 165 children participated in the series of online contest.
