Childline Dmu inducted under SWD

State government has inducted Childline, a Dimapur based NGO under the Social Welfare Department with effect from September 1. Before induction, Childline founded in 2011 working for underprivileged children was under Prodigals’ Home. On Saturday, a thanksgiving programme was held at AIDA Don Bosco Campus to honour the achievements, success and journey of Childline Dimapur.


Speaking at the programme, director Community Educational Centre Society (CECS), Subonenba Longkumer acknowledged the Childline team for their tireless contribution on creating better space for children to live in. He termed it as another chapter for the team to renew themselves and committed for the welfare of the children.


Longkumer also highlighted the journey of Child help line, which has a network spread in 600 districts with thousands of people involve in the programme with international, national and state partnered with children India foundation.


Mentioning that the journey was not easy but through team coordination, effort and contribution, the Childline could reached this far, he encouraged them to continue work for the welfare of the children.
Former Childline coordinator Lozua Kape, while highlighting about the Childline journey, applauded the team for their effort and contribution.


She said so many things have gone wrong within the society which made them push to initiate the child helpline. She said that “we may definitely not change the whole world but we could change the life of underprivileged children under the programme”.


Kape also mentioned that many abandoned children without history were doing well under the programme, which was an achievement and proud moment for the team.
Officer incharge of Dimapur women police station, Rose said that the department was committed to the duty particularly for the children, while applauding the team for the achievement. She mentioned that the Childline has changed lives of many children because of team coordination and hoped the team could work together and elevate the organization.


Kahuto Chishi Sumi in his short speech said that Childline was the only organization in Nagaland which works 24/7 stating that such programme was needed since there were increasing cases of underprivileged children being abused in the society.


He also appreciated state government for inducting the Childline team under Social Welfare Department and hope that the programme would further serve for the welfare of the children.


Short speeches were also delivered by Director Prodigal’s home K. Ela, Project coordinator Alomi Sumi, case worker NG. Rangdouliu, case worker Deli Chakre and former childline team member Katoli Chishi.
Volunteers Childline Dimapur, Vitono Gugu Haralu and Jungshi Lumter also delivered short speeches.
