CHILDLINE Se Dosti campaign ends

CHILDLINE Kohima conducted a series of activities to mark the “CHILDLINE Se Dosti” campaign observed from November 14 to 29 in Kohima district.

According to a press release from CHILDLINE Kohima, highlights of the campaign included setting up a child friendly and healing environment at paediatrics ward, Naga Hospital Authority Kohima by decorating its interiors with child friendly wall pictures. The team along with volunteers and well wishers visited South Police Station, North Police Station and Women Police Station in Kohima where police officials took the CHILDLINE Dosti pledge followed by them having Suraksha bands fastened to their wrists – a symbolic action of their commitment to CHILDLINE and to protect children. Hoardings of CHILDLINE messages were also put up in various Police Stations.
The team also spread the campaign message on social media about the services and activities of CHILDLINE 1098.
CHILDLINE Kohima also collaborated with the Kohima Village Students Union (KVSU) to generate mass awareness, using public address systems to disseminate information about CHILDLINE services and to appeal to the community to build a safe environment for children to live in.
The campaign concluded with awareness programs in different institutions such as Loyola Higher Secondary School, Jakhama on November 28 and St. Joseph College Jakhama on November 29. It was aimed at sensitizing participants about the toll free 1098 helpline number and also to invite them to be a “CHILDLINE dost (Friend)” by calling 1098 whenever they see a child in distress.
Collaboration director, CHILDLINE Kohima, Mezhi Sorhie has invited every citizen in the state to become a true friend of CHILDLINE as child protection should be everyone’s concern.
