Emphasising the importance of the tournament, Wotsa said programmes combining sports and the Word of God were essential for the holistic development of youths. He appreciated pastors, church leaders and others who had contributed to the spiritual and social development of the community.
Urging participants to look beyond entertainment, he called upon them to use the occasion to seek God’s blessings and guidance for the growth and recognition of young talents. He also encouraged everyone to uphold unity, sportsmanship and fellowship.
Quoting legendary sprinter Usain Bolt, Wotsa stressed that perseverance, discipline and hard work were indispensable for sporting success. He expressed hope that Aphuyemi youths would one day represent the community on international platforms, including the Olympic Games.
