The Chokri Area Union Kohima (CAUK) convened its general session 2025 on October 11 at Hotel Japfü, Kohima, with Advisor for CAWD and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, attending as the keynote speaker.
In his address, Khamo highlighted pressing issues confronting Naga society, including substance abuse and unemployment. He emphasized the foundational role of parents in tackling these challenges and underscored the importance of leadership, behavioural change, and collective effort for societal progress. Advocating for a biblically aligned work culture rooted in traditional values, he called for unity, sincerity and entrepreneurship as pathways to economic growth and corruption-free governance.
Commissioner and Secretary, Government of Nagaland, Zhothisa Dawhuo, urged the community to prepare mentally and physically for the upcoming reservation review and to accept its outcome positively. He encouraged villagers to return home, plan sustainable livelihoods, and contribute to economic development, especially in light of highway projects passing through Chokri land.
IGP, Rothihu Tetseo, stressed the importance of preserving Chokri identity and warned against individualism that disrupts societal harmony. He expressed concern over the rise of profit-driven NGOs and cautioned against self-righteousness, advocating humility and introspection.
The programme featured a welcome address by Cekrongoyi Theyo, secretary’s report by Vevotso Medeo, and treasurer’s report by Sekhosa Chuzho. Vephuta Rhakho led the proceedings. Cultural presentations included a folk song by Thünonülü and friends and a special song by the Kikruma Gospel Team, Kohima.
The team will be led by Dr. Rupfuhu Rose as chairman, with Vevotso Medeo as vice chairman, Cekrongoyi Theyo as general secretary, Nukhosa Chuzho as secretary with other members.
