A five-day orientation training for the 8th batch of Community Health Officers (CHOs) under NHM Nagaland began on July 21 at SPMU Hall, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima. A total of 19 CHOs were inducted.
In a press release, NHM informed that the sessions are led by domain experts and aim to strengthen primary healthcare and improve community-level services.
During the inaugural, NHM Mission Director, Dr. Avile Zao highlighted efforts to transform PHCs and SCs into Health & Wellness Centres (HWCs) under Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AAM). She said CHOs now serve as key health contacts, especially in the absence of Medical Officers.
SPO-NHM, Dr. Keveduyi Theyo said CHOs are vital links between healthcare services and the community. He encouraged them to work with compassion, maintain good documentation, and build strong relationships.
The department informed that 336 SCs have been upgraded to HWCs. The training covers maternal and child health, NCD screening, elderly and adolescent care, palliative support, health schemes, and digital tools.
