Christians in Nagaland celebrated Palm Sunday on April 13, which remembers Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem before his crucifixion. In churches all over the state, people including Sunday school children carried out procession, holding palm leaves, singing “Hosanna”.
St. Luke’s Church Mima village celebrated Palm Sunday with procession which started at the heart of the village and ended up in the Church. Rev. Fr. C. Joseph, counsellor of St. Joseph’s College Jakhama blessed the gathering. People sang Hosanna and recited prayers during the procession.
Fr. Joseph in his preaching said that Palm Sunday was a momentous day in the Christian calendar, recalling Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem as the Messiah and the beginning of Holy Week.
He invited the faithful to contemplate the humility and majesty of Christ’s kingship and to reflect on our commitment to follow Him on the path of love, sacrifice and salvation.
Christ King Church Kohima also celebrated Palm Sunday. The main celebrant of the Holy Eucharist was Fr. C.M. Joseph SDB, Parish Priest, Christ King Parish Kohima Village.
