Chümoukedima Gorkha Union (CGU) organized an open penalty shootout on October 7 as a fundraiser event for the Union Silver Jubilee.
United Brothers emerged as the winner in the competition, while Gorkha Panthers Chümoukedima FC secured the runner-up position. Meivi Venuh from United Brothers was awarded the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
The event saw an overwhelming participation from neighbouring towns and villages where a total of 16 teams participated.
Kezhalelhou Shuya, Vitouto Koutsu, Dr. Kuzonyi Wideo ADC & administrator, Chümoukedima Town Council were the well-wishers of the event and they sponsored the various prizes.
Earlier, gracing the function as the guest of honour, Deepak Chettri, former president ofrotary Club Dimapur stated, “Success is never by chance,” and called upon the youth to stay committed and work hard to excel in Life.
B.B Chetri, principal North Town Hr. Sec. School Chümoukedima Town who graced the function as chief guest stated that sports bring people together and he hoped that this event will carry the ingredient of peace and harmony.
Earlier, the closing function was compered by Jacob Sundas, co-convenor Jubilee committee, while welcome note was delivered by Adhitya B Rai, convenor Jubilee Committee and the presentation was pronounced by Subhas Pariyar, sports secretary Jubilee Committee of CGU.
