Preparations for the Sekrenyi-cum-Mini Hornbill Festival 2026 gained momentum with a key coordination meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Chümoukedima, on February 18.
According to DIPR report, the meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Polan John, reviewed arrangements for the festival scheduled on February 25 at Sovima Village Council Ground. Officials from multiple departments joined hands to ensure smooth conduct of the event, which seeks to celebrate Naga traditions while promoting local entrepreneurship.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the festival’s significance as a platform for cultural expression and economic opportunity, calling for strong inter-departmental cooperation. Senior Tourist Officer presented the programme outline and informed that a capacity-building session would also be part of the celebrations. Sovima Village Council chairman briefed members on preparations underway, including traditional games, tents, canopies, and departmental stalls. Around 11 departments have already confirmed participation by setting up stalls at the venue. Participants emphasized the need for wider publicity to enhance public turnout and community engagement. The meeting concluded with an appeal to all departments to work in close coordination for the successful conduct of the festival under the aegis of the Government of Nagaland.
