Crime Investigation Department (CID) branch Dimapur in an operation on June 15 around 5 p.m. at Blue Hill Station Area, Dimapur apprehended one Somi Valui Thankhul, son of late Ningaima Thankhul of Snakathei village, Ukhrul, Manipur and recovered around 2.820 kg of suspected local made brown sugar worth Rs. 20 lakh (approx.).
In a press release, SP (Crime) and PRO PHQ Nagaland Kohima stated that based on a reliable input about drug smuggler arriving from Manipur to Dimapur, CID branch Dimapur apprehended the suspect and upon search, one black coloured polybag containing the suspected local made brown sugar was recovered from the possession of the suspect.
The seized items along with the accused were later handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur and a case under NDPS Act was registered for further investigation, PRO informed.
