Department of Horticulture along with M/s Green Cascade, Mokokchung, organized a citrus sapling distribution programme at the Horticulture Farm in Yisemyong, Mokokchung district, on May 30.
The event was attended by the director of Horticulture, Ayieno Hibo, as the chief guest. She emphasized the department’s commitment to work closely with farmers and promoting commercial citrus cultivation. She encouraged farmers to seek both support and technical guidance, stressing that the success of the department depends on the prosperity of farmers.
District horticulture officer, Dr. B. Temjenmenla, thanked M/s Green Cascade for providing free citrus saplings to farmers in Mokokchung and Longleng districts. She expressed hope that the initiative would improve rural livelihoods and boost horticultural development.
A representative from M/s Green Cascade spoke about the benefits of citrus farming and encouraged farmers to focus on sustainable practices alongside technical expertise, rather than relying solely on subsidies.
The highlight of the event was the distribution of thousands of high-quality Khasi mandarin citrus saplings to 120 farmers. The programme aims to increase commercial citrus farming and support economic growth through horticulture.
