City Law College Students’ Union (CLCSU) organized its first Cultural Day on February 27 at City Law College, marking a significant milestone in the college’s co-curricular activities.
According to a press release, the programme was graced by chairman of YMCA Northeast and Livingstone Foundation International, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema, as the chief guest, accompanied by his wife, Ani Yepthomi. The event was attended by the chairman, principal, faculty members and students of the college.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sema encouraged students to uphold the true spirit of the legal profession. He emphasized that the uniform of an advocate symbolizes the principles of law “black and white” and reminded students that in law, there is no shade of grey. He urged them to stand firmly for what is right and just at all times. Stressing the importance of character, he encouraged students to remain humble in life, stating that true greatness lies in humility. He further expressed his heartfelt wishes for the students to become successful lawyers dedicated to the betterment of society and to uphold the law with integrity.
The programme was chaired by Livi, while the invocation was pronounced by Ichuhangle. The welcome address was delivered by CLCSU president Mesho, and greetings were extended by assistant professor Elizabeth. Students presented a Sumi folk song titled Lejole. A speech on “Symbolism and Konyak Naga Identity” was delivered by Ngamnon. The vote of thanks was proposed by Jubika, followed by the benediction pronounced by Chailong.
The Cultural Day featured a variety of performances showcasing the rich cultural heritage and traditional practices of the Nagas, reflecting the diversity, unity and vibrant spirit of the Naga community.
