DIMAPUR, JUN 15 (NPN): Chang Khulei Setshang (CKS) and Ao Senden have warned that any group or individual attempting to stoke tribalism or communalism by sharing or publishing defamatory, hateful and malicious statements in connection with the recent sexual assault case involving a minor girl in Dimapur would be viewed seriously and dealt with accordingly.
The warning was issued in a declaration adopted at a special joint meeting of the two apex tribal hohos held at the CKS office in Tuensang. According to the declaration signed by CKS vice-president N. Sipong and Ao Senden president Marsanen Imsong, such actions could create unnecessary tension, hurt public sentiments and threaten the longstanding harmonious relationship between the Chang and Ao communities, which has stood the test of time since the days of their forefathers.
The two organisations also strongly condemned the alleged sexual assault of a minor girl in Dimapur and extended solidarity to the victim.
They condemned the crime allegedly committed by O. Watimeren Jamir and Akangkokba of Unger village, and Tsuktimongba of Sungratsu village.
The meeting expressed hope that speedy justice would be delivered to the victim and called for exemplary punishment for the alleged accused.
Further, the meeting resolved that irrespective of any challenges, both communities would remain steadfast in nurturing, cherishing and respecting their bond of friendship and relationship.
