Chuchuyimlang Kaketshir Telongjem (Chuchuyimlang Students’ Union) on October 9 observed “3rd Noble Deeds Day” marking the birthday of Natwar Thakkar, founder of Nagaland Gandhi Ashram.
In a press release, CKT stated that the day was celebrated in honour of the selfless services rendered by Thakkar for the welfare of the less privileged people of Chuchuyimlang and surrounding villages in particular and Nagaland in general.
CKT said the day-long celebration was marked by public service and charitable works by the citizens and organisations within and outside the village and culminated with a public function held at the premises of Nagaland Gandhi Ashram.
Highlights of the celebration included poetry recitation (An ode to Nagaland’s Gandhi), special songs, exhortations and reminiscing the journey of Natwar Thakkar through an act presented by the students of National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Chuchuyimlang, complemented by screening of a documentary on the life and work of Natwar Thakkar. The function was also marked with paying rich tributes to the leader by a host of important public and government functionaries
CKT said an online painting and essay writing competition focussing of the life and works of Natwar Thakkar was also organised to mark the occasion.
