Clean election signature campaign held in Kohima

Signature campaign on “clean elections, informed and ethical voting” was held on February 19 at DPDB Hall, Kohima with Kohima District Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) icon, Esther Natso and public leaders.
According to DIPR, while addressing the gathering, DC& DEO, Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan said that ethical voting was a collective responsibility to ensure free and peaceful elections. He urged GBs and public leaders to spread this message across wards, colonies and villages. DC & DEO also sought their support and cooperation so that the elections were successful and peaceful.
SVEEP icon observed that the election department, in collaboration with government departments, media and NGOs had been actively campaigning to increase electoral participation through registration, turn out, qualitative participation, informed and ethical voting and to provide continuous electoral and democracy education. She urged the attendees to stand up for clean elections so that the state could change for the better.
In her address, DPRO Kohima, Ruopfulenuo Houzha elaborated the ideas behind the launch of Kohima district SVEEP anthem and SVEEP Mobile Van by DC & DEO.
Houzha stated that the main idea of launching the SVEEP campaign was to spread awareness about electoral process and clean elections and explained that the district’s SVEEP election anthem was composed in Tenyidie and Nagamese by Methaneilie so that all candidates and voters could be reached with the message of clean elections for the state.
Meanwhile, representatives from wards and colonies under 9 Kohima Town A/C and 10 Northern Angami-I A/C, led by the Kohima DC and the district SVEEP Icon participated in the signature campaign.
