Closing ceremony of 8th Poshan Pakhwada 2026 held at Zhavame Village

The closing ceremony of the 8th Poshan Pakhwada 2026 was held at the Court Hall, Zhavame Village, under the supervision of the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), ICDS Chizami Project. The programme, chaired by senior supervisor Zekote Therie, began in the presence of officials, anganwadi workers and members of the local community.
In her address, the CDPO highlighted various schemes under the Poshan initiative, with emphasis on the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), which provides supplementary nutrition, immunization, health check-ups, referral services and pre-school education for children below six years, alongside support for pregnant and lactating mothers.
She also elaborated on the objectives of the Poshan Abhiyaan (National Nutrition Mission), aimed at reducing stunting, undernutrition, anaemia and low birth weight through improved service delivery and community participation. The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) was also discussed, which offers financial assistance to pregnant and lactating women to promote better health and nutrition.
Village Council chairman Vivotso Domeh delivered a short speech appreciating the dedication of anganwadi workers in strengthening grassroots-level nutrition awareness.
Earlier, the event opened with an invocation prayer by Mesechü-u Domeh, followed by a welcome note and attendance session. A special song presented by the Anganwadi Workers of Zhavame Village added a cultural dimension to the programme.
The programme concluded with closing remarks by block coordinator of Chizami, Tshekro Thopi, who announced awards for the best-performing Anganwadi Workers and Helpers under Poshan Pakhwada 2026. Their contributions were widely acknowledged. The vote of thanks was delivered by senior supervisor Vipeto Tara, followed by a benediction from Neivono Rhi. The event ended with a photo session and lunch.
