CM assures to release scholarship today

Nagaland chief minister, T.R. Zeliang has agreed to release the remaining amount of Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) by Tuesday. This assurance was given to All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) president Katho P Awomi when the latter met him on Monday.
In a press release, Awomi said he had conveyed to the chief minister that ANCSU would not be pacified with mere assurances and demanded firm steps.
The union appreciated Zeliang for agreeing to release the remaining scholarship amount by Tuesday and taking necessary steps to set up a separate cell/nodal department for implementing all scholarship schemes, besides making necessary arrangement so that students can expect to get their scholarships within a particular month or season every year, which would be notified to them.
On revocation of August 11, 2016 P&AR office memorandum and October 26, 2017 P&AR office memorandum, the chief minister agreed to review them in the next cabinet meeting to ensure that the demand of ANCSU was met.
ANCSU also warned legislators and cabinet members against opposing its genuine demands, adding that the failure of government to comply with them would invite retaliation.
The students’ body further appealed to all organizations and individuals not to speculate over PMS without being properly informed about the matter as it could create suspicion in the Central ministry, thereby affecting the funding pattern and lead to more complications.
