State chief minister Neiphiu Rio, who is in Delhi, Tuesday called on the Chief Justice of India, NV Ramana and sought his support for setting up a separate High Court in the state.
In tweet, Rio informed that he “Called on Honourable Chief Justice of India @CheifIndia Shri N.V. Ramana and sought his support for establishment of a separate High Court for Nagaland. I extend my appreciation to him for his support and solidarity.”
On Monday, Rio met Union Minister Law & Justice, Communications, Electronics & IT, Ravi Shankar Prasad and discussed issues related to establishment of a High Court in Nagaland. Rio thanked Prasad for his support and assurance to extend “all possible help towards realisation of this long cherished aspiration.”
Rio also called on Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday and discussed issues related to development and welfare of the state. “I thank him for the concern and constant support extended to Nagaland and its citizens,” the chief minister stated.
