Chief minister Dr Neiphiu Rio has mourned the passing away of retired chief engineer Keneilhoulie Keditsu in Kohima on Monday.
In a condolence message, Rio said Keditsu’s death was a great loss not only to his family but also to the many lives he had touched with his wisdom, humility, and kindness. He described Keditsu as a man of noble spirit, and possessed a pleasant disposition and a generous heart.
Besides being a steadfast and devoted husband, loving father and doting grandfather to his 11 grandchildren, the chief minister said he was also a caring and loving father-in-law to my daughter.
“He embodied the virtues of simplicity, integrity, and diligence. As a government servant, he served with unwavering dedication, ever committed to the responsibilities entrusted to him. Even after his retirement, he remained an active and invaluable contributor to society, working in various capacities for the greater good,” the message stated.
According to Rio, his contributions to the promotion and preservation of the rich traditions, particularly Naga wrestling, stood as a testament to his love for the heritage. He said Keditsu was among the venerated patrons who laboured tirelessly to uphold the legacy of indigenous sports, ensuring that they endured for generations to come.
In his passing away, Rio said the Angami community in particular and the Nagas as a whole had lost a guardian and a guiding light, adding that the void left by his departure was immeasurable, yet his deeds and sacrifices would remain etched in the heart.
He hoped that Keditsu’s legacy would continue to inspire and uplift those who walked the path he so honourably treaded. Extending his deepest sympathies to the bereaved family, Rio said he and his family prayed that the Almighty might grant them strength, solace, and courage to bear this irreparable loss. They also wished that his soul find rest in eternal peace.
