CM harps on peace in New Year’s message

Wising all the people of the state a New Year 2016 filled with hope and the blessings of the Almighty God, the Nagaland chief minister T.R. Zeliang prayed that the New Year bring peace into “our homes and our land”.
In his New Year’s message, Zeliang also prayed that 2016 be a year that “charts out our dreams into a reality of long lasting peace in the land of Nagas.” He said Nagas as peace loving people should continue to maintain peace and tranquillity among themselves and with neighbours while remembering that peace was essential for the state to progress and be at par with the rest of the world.
Acknowledging the “service rendered” by Naga Political Groups (NPGs), the chief minister reiterated his appeal to the NPGs to come together and work collectively for “permanent peace in our land.”
He also called upon various NGOs, tribal Hohos, organisations and common people to contribute in maintaining peace in the state and continue to work towards bringing the NPGs together.
Zeliang also asserted that his government was committed to economic empowerment of the poor, the downtrodden, the marginalized including women and youth, improving education and health system, ensuring better communications and development of the state with transparency and accountability. Zeliang added that transparency did not mean in government transactions alone but in every field.
He encouraged all government employees, various organisations, churches and people of the State to maintain transparency and be accountable. Stressing that people of Nagaland needed to change their mindset and be prepared to contribute for the government to work for their welfare, he said the citizens should not shy away from paying what was due to the government so development activities were not hampered. “Pay and expect better service should be the principle of every citizen,” he said.
Further, Zeliang urged every citizen of the State to maintain civic sense and create awareness about it.
Reminding the people to be conscious of environment and work towards keeping Nagaland Green by 2020, he said keeping the towns and villages green and preserving natural beauty like the rivers, forest, rich culture and traditions would turn Nagaland into a new tourist destination.
The chief minister further called upon all to collectively work for a peaceful and progressive year and look forward to a year of positive changes and harmony within the society.
Nagaland chief minister T.R. Zeliang during his maiden visit to Kerala inaugurated the upgraded traditional Ayurvedic treatment centre at Chengannoor, Alleppey district on December 30, 2015.
According to CMO’s media cell, Zeliang while inaugurating centre wished that it would provide a healthy body and healthy mind in the changing health scenario infested with profession related health issues.
