CM inspects old KMC dumping site

DIMAPUR, JUL: 21 (NPN)

State chief minister, Dr. Neiphiu Rio, along with deputy chief minister, TR Zeliang and minister, Salhoutuonuo Kruse, visited the Old Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) dumping site and took stock of the landslide-affected stretch along National Highway-29 in Kohima on Monday.
According to a DIPR report, the inspection assessed the severity of the landslide and explored both immediate and long-term mitigation measures to ensure the safety and smooth flow of traffic.
During the visit, the chief minister held discussions with various stakeholders to formulate a comprehensive plan addressing the issue.
The chief minister emphasized the need for coordinated action among all concerned departments and community stakeholders to address the problem effectively.
Officials present included the deputy commissioner (DC) Kohima, superintendent of police (SP) Kohima, PWD National Highway officials, landowners, village leaders from Jotsoma, and other district officials.
Authorities are initiating necessary interventions to stabilize the affected area and minimize further disruptions along NH-29.

Traffic advisory on Phesama route
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kohima, B Henok Buchem, through a traffic advisory, informed that the alternative route between Phesama and Kisama/Kigwema for LMVs has been restored and opened for traffic with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, it has been informed that vehicular movement on National Highway-2 near Kisama (Landslide affected section) would not be allowed.
People have been advised to avoid non-essential journeys as far as possible. Therefore, commuters have been advised to take precautionary measures.
