CM lauds police, administration

Chief minister Neiphiu Rio today lauded the State police, district administration, security forces and central paramilitary forces and other agencies for doing a “commendable job” on the law and order front.
Claiming that barring factional clashes amongst the underground groups, the State remained by and large peaceful, the chief minister in his Independence Day address said in order to maintain peace and tranquility in the State, it was necessary that the ceasefire ground rules (CFGR) were faithfully adhered to by all parties concerned.
“To ensure this, the Government of India have recently brought out the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for enforcement of the ceasefire ground rules,” he said and pointed out that as prescribed in the SOP, the State government had constituted the State Level Strategy Group as well as the District Level Security Coordination Groups, involving the civil administration, the security forces, the police, public leaders and prominent leaders of NGOs and civil societies.
He also said these committees had been instrumental in the maintenance of law and order and in controlling situations arising from occasional violations of ceasefire ground rules.
“The capacity and efficiency of the police is constantly being upgraded under the Police Modernisation Scheme, and our policemen are second to none in dealing with law and order situations. That is why, our policemen are in high from other states also,” the chief minister said
