CM launches online ILP for domestic tourists

Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio launched online Inner Line Permit (ILP) for domestic tourist in the presence of deputy chief minister Y Patton and other senior government officials in the conference hall of chief minister’s office, Nagaland civil secretariat, here Friday. 

The module for online ILP for tourist was designed and developed for the home department by the department of information technology and communication as part of promoting e-Governance in the State as well as for improving the implementation of the ILP regime.

According to principal secretary home Abhijit Sinha, any tourists who desired online ILP could visit www.ilp.nagaland.gov.in and get oneself registered by providing one’s phone number and a one-time password (OTP) would be generated and sent to the phone number provided, which would be used for registration.

Thereafter, the applicant would be provided a page wherein one would be required to fill up all the particulars and upload a passport size photo along with a valid Government recognized Photo ID such as Aadhar, PAN card, EPIC card, driving license, passport or government ID.

For a child who is 10 years and below, school photo ID would be sufficient for uploading and the  applicant after filling up all the requisite details, would then press the submit button.

Thereafter, the submitted details will be automatically transmitted electronically to the commissioner Nagaland who has been authorized to examine and on finding that everything is genuine would electronically grant approval for issue of ILP. 

Once it gets approved, the applicant would get an SMS in one’s registered phone and an email would also be sent conveying that ILP application has been approved and one could proceed for online payment.

The applicant will then go the ILP Portal (www.ilp.nagaland.gov.in) and make online payment that charges Rs 50 for 15 days duration and Rs. 100 for 30 days. Only after the payment is made, the applicant would be issued an ILP card electronically and intimation would be sent to them via SMS and email by clearly mentioning the ILP number.

Thereafter, the applicants could simply download the ILP card in their email or visit the online ILP portal and then inter the received ILP number to download the ILP card. After that, the visitors could either take a print out of the ILP Card or a digital copy of the same on one’s mobile phone, which would be considered as a valid ILP document when accompanied by a valid Government recognized Photo ID in original. 

Sinha said that the online ILP would significantly ease the process of getting an ILP by any tourist from any part of the country who desired to visit Nagaland particularly for the upcoming Hornbill festival. He also stated it would be another important step in the state government’s march towards e-Governance.

Further, Sinha said it would also improve the overall quality of monitoring of the implementation of the ILP regime as all the concerned enforcement agencies of the government will have access to real time information of the applicants, the number of approvals obtained, the duration of visits, the places of visit etc.

Sinha said the home department intended to further scale up and reinforce the online ILP module launched today by including all other categories of ILP applicants and by providing several other online verification features. 

He also mentioned that the department was working on ILP for international tourists and exuded confidence that it would be launched soon.

To queries, he said any ILP holders whose validity expires after 15 or 30 days could get fresh registered according to his or her requirement on the number of days. However, he said the registered code for a person who obtained ILP will remain the same.

Sinha informed that the manual mode of obtaining ILP would be continued while the entry and exit of the visitors would be checked.
