The Chief Minister’s Mobile Operation Theatre (CM-MOT) Surgical Camp was inaugurated at District Hospital Longleng on October 21, 2025, marking a significant step in delivering specialised healthcare services to remote areas. The two-day camp, held on October 21 and 22, was chaired by Lily, Nursing Superintendent (i/c), District Hospital Longleng, with invocation and dedicatory prayer led by Rev. Beau Phom, pastor, Longleng Town Baptist Church.
Welcoming the gathering, Dr. Lanuakum, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Longleng, highlighted the impact of the CM-MOT initiative in bridging healthcare gaps across Nagaland’s rural districts. He noted that the mobile surgical unit has enabled patients in far-flung areas to access timely surgical care without the burden of travel and cost.
Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso (Dr. Ato), MLA who led the CM-MOT team, elaborated on the vision behind the initiative. He stated that CM-MOT was launched to bring healthcare to the people’s doorstep, especially those facing financial and logistical barriers to surgery. He described the programme as a model of unity, bringing together medical professionals from diverse backgrounds to serve with one spirit and purpose.
C. Tsalimse Sangtam, EAC, Hq Longleng, expressed appreciation to Dr. Ato and his team for their dedicated service to the people of Longleng district. He acknowledged the significance of providing surgical care locally, especially for those in remote villages.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Y. B. Angam, President, Phom Peoples’ Council, lauded chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio for his visionary leadership in launching the CM-MOT programme. He praised Dr. Ato as a committed surgeon and public servant, whose outreach to underserved communities has brought healing and hope. Angam also thanked Dr. Lanuakum and the hospital staff for their coordination, and extended gratitude to A. Pongshi Phom, MLA, 50 A/C Longleng, and his family for their hospitality during the team’s stay.
The CM-MOT team comprised of Dr. Keneihoulie Medom, Anesthesiologist and Managing Director, Kohimas; Dr. Lanumeren, Dental Surgeon; Dr. Rovino, Consultant Laparoscopic Surgeon; and Dr. Mhashe, Senior Resident, Department of Surgery, NIMSR, Kohima was led by Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso.
They were supported by OT nurses and technicians from Kohimas Hospital.
During the camp, 44 minor and major surgical operations and 86 dental procedures were successfully conducted, providing much-needed relief to the local population.
The CM-MOT initiative continues to reflect the Government’s commitment under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio to ensure accessible, affordable, and equitable healthcare across Nagaland. The Longleng camp stands as a testament to this mission.
