Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed T. Sentichuba Amphitheatre at Mongsenyimti village, hailing it as a long-awaited dream fulfilled and a powerful emblem of unity and cultural vision.
Taking to social media platform X, Rio described the amphitheatre as a “fitting tribute” to the late T. Sentichuba, a revered figure known for his unwavering commitment to the Ao community and the state of Nagaland. “His resilience, dedication, and service continue to inspire generations,” the Chief Minister wrote.
The concept for the amphitheatre was first proposed to Rio in 2018 by Advisor Metsubo Jamir during the Tsungremmung festival. Though no formal announcement was made at the time, Rio had assured his support for the initiative, recognizing the community’s deep-rooted aspiration for a cultural space.
Now complete, the amphitheatre boasts a seating capacity of 800 and is poised to become a dynamic venue for artistic performances, cultural gatherings, and community events. Officials also anticipate its role in boosting local tourism and creating opportunities within the creative economy.
Rio extended his gratitude to all those involved in bringing the project to life, stating that the amphitheatre would serve as “a place where youth discover dreams, artistes find expression, and the community comes together in unity and pride.”
The inauguration marks a significant milestone for Mongsenyimti village, reinforcing its cultural heritage while paving the way for future creative endeavors.
