Nagaland chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, along with his delegation, continued his official visit to Vijayanagar with a packed day of sporting, industrial, and strategic engagements facilitated by the JSW Group.
The day began with a spirited friendly football match between the Nagaland U-20 Team and the BFC Young Blues Elite Team at the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS) Football Ground where the Nagaland team secured a commanding 4–0 victory.
The football match was followed by a detailed tour of the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS)—India’s first privately-funded high-performance training centre. During the visit, the delegation observed live training sessions, interacted with athletes and coaches, and experienced the state-of-the-art support systems in place.
The delegation then visited a series of key JSW facilities including the BPO, Safety Experience Centre, Sakhi, Bunkai, and OPJC, which showcased JSW’s commitment to innovation, workforce safety, and inclusive community development.
At the Vijayanagar Steel Plant, the delegation received an immersive overview of JSW’s industrial operations. During their visit to the JSW Group Experience Centre, Neiphiu Rio was felicitated by P.K. Murugan, President of JSW Steel, in the presence of senior officials. The team also toured Blast Furnace 4 and Hot Strip Mill 2 (HSM 2) to understand the technology and processes behind one of India’s largest steel production units.
Throughout the day, the Chief Minister and his team engaged in multiple high-level meetings with the leadership of JSW Group, discussing collaborative opportunities across sectors. The discussions focused on strategic developmental partnerships between the state of Nagaland and JSW in areas such as sports development, youth skill-building, industrial investments, art residencies, and cultural programs.
The visit reaffirmed a shared commitment to foster long-term cooperation between Nagaland and JSW Group—driven by innovation, inclusivity, and a vision for future-ready development.
